Okay so you want to start a clothing brand what does the trademark lawyer know about starting a clothing brand well I am bringing you along On my journey which is brand new to me it’s a brand new project I’ve never talked about it with anyone so you guys are the first to know that trademark lawyer Marcella is starting a clothing brand hey everybody my name is Marcela Dominguez I have been a trademark lawyer for close to 10 years now and I am really excited about this new project that I am going to be sharing with you guys how to start a clothing brand so in this video and in future videos I’m going to break down the steps for you so for example in today’s video I’m going to be talking to you about the first step which is the creation of my designs how I created these designs where did I get the inspiration for the designs and who did I get to help me with these designs I’m also going to talk to you a little bit about what platform I chose to start selling my product line and who knows maybe you’ll take inspiration and use the same exact services that I used so why am I starting a clothing brand well if you guys haven’t checked out this video already make sure you do that the reason is that I felt this impetus this push to do something more with my art piece I thought gosh I know that this has the potential to be more.
if I really think closely about what it is that I want to do I know that I’ve received support from other artists and from other people that you know tell me that they like the art piece but how else am I going to know if my clothing brand will succeed if I don’t give it a try and just like you the viewer I’m sure you are thinking about starting a business a clothing business or maybe some other kind of service or product based business but you have to put yourself out there and you have to test your idea to make sure that it is viable before you go out and invest all this money and that is just one Golden Nugget that I am sharing with you right now if you didn’t know that already you’re going to learn a lot more than you knew before you started watching but my goal is just to share this journey with you I mean there is nothing like showing you in action what it’s like to start a brand of any sort but in this particular case I’m going to be sharing with you my experience of starting a clothing brand now if you know me and you’ve seen other videos of mine you know that I have started other businesses like my Law Firm where I share Legal Information with you I also have started a business called stoe Joey which you can check out at this link right here and it was inspired by my kids I have never started a clothing brand before but like I said I felt this impetus and this push to do something more with my very first art piece which you can see in that video right there now the reason I want to share this with you guys is because I know that maybe you might be thinking well she’s a trademark lawyer obviously she knows the ins and outs about what to do first what to do next and maybe what to do last she knows where she can save money and lots of you may feel like I’m at an advantage and maybe you feel like you’re at a disadvantage because you have to scour the internet or you have to listen to free YouTube videos to figure out the information but let me tell you that everyone in the beginning is basically trying to figure it out so no one walks into entrepreneurship knowing all of the answers that is because each type of business has its own personality so for example if you’re starting a clothing business the journey is not going to look the same as somebody who has a software company or somebody who’s selling on Amazon or somebody who is selling Legal Services the journey unfolds differently for you your offer is going to be different your marketing your advertising of course there are some elements that are going to be the same perhaps the mechanisms that you use to advertise the mechanisms that you use to sell are the same but the journey in and of itself the actual experience is going to be different so anyway I know that this is going to be a lot of fun for me and I want it to be a lot of fun for you too when you’re building your business and I thought gosh if I can share my experience then why wouldn’t I so here I am and I the fact that we should all be created equally and that we should be treating each other equally whether that means a parent and a child or an older brother and a younger sister or older sister and a younger brother her older sister and younger sister this principle applies universally to people of all Races backgrounds colors genders and of course I hope that this brand represents the viewers the people that I am also planning to serve now I don’t really intend for this brand to be political in any way it just simply means that we should all agree to disagree if there is a topic that we cannot come to an agreement on which you will be able to see in the shop on some of the t-shirts that I have created now I thought Teespring was a great choice for launching this product line because it is a company that allows you to upload your designs to select the merchandise that you’re going to sell and they keep a cut of every sale so that means that you get to keep some and they also get to keep some they will also package and mail the product to the buyers so that you take that off your hands as well so it seems fair that of course they would get to keep a cut so perhaps you’re wondering how much money have you spent so far that’s going to be pretty important so make sure you stay tuned to the end because at the end of every one of these videos just like this I am going to end by telling you how much money I’ve spent so far now I also want to let you know that if you’re somebody who is going to be using the fiber platform then please be sure to check out that video right there which I was going to break down exactly what I’ve spent thus far so one I have hired somebody on Fiverr to create designs for me and then to upload those designs to my Teespring store so all in all I have spent around 40 dollars in hiring someone and having them create the designs and uploading them to the Teespring store keep in mind that I sent over some designs that I had already created to the Fiverr freelancer so in the next video I plan to show you my designs what I drew on paper and then compare that to How It ultimately turned out in the store now it is a dramatic difference when you go from basic design to refined design so hiring somebody if you don’t know how to do something like this is definitely worth your time and money I also spent some time going back and forth with him and tweaking some of the designs to make sure that they ultimately looked the way that I liked it was also very important for me to start this project on a budget I know lots of you are bootstrapping or maybe don’t have a lot to spend but you know you’ve been wanting to start a clothing brand so I thought that’s what I’m going to do I’m going to do this on a budget a very tight budget and see where
